UK wild camping trips: Frequently asked questions
-
What gear is included with every booking?
Every guided wild camping trip includes all the essentials you need for a safe, comfortable night under the stars — so you don’t need to invest in expensive gear before giving it a try. As standard, we provide a high-quality tent, sleeping bag, sleeping pad, pillow and sleeping bag liner.
The kit we supply is chosen for its reliability, comfort and packability — gear that’s light enough to carry over long miles but tough enough to handle Britain’s weather. For example, you might find yourself sleeping in tents like the Nortent Vern 1, the Wild Country Helm 1 Compact, or the ultralight Nordisk Telemark 2.2 LW.
If you need extra help or advice about what to bring, just let us know — we’ll make sure you feel fully prepared for your adventure.

A bit of rain won’t stop us — our trips are designed for the British outdoors, after all. But if conditions are unsafe or severe enough that the adventure can’t go ahead, the trip will be cancelled and you’ll be offered either a full refund or the chance to rebook for another date. Your safety and enjoyment always come first.

Leave no Trace: The 7 ethics behind every camp
-
1. Plan ahead and prepare
Each adventure is rigorously planned for every eventuality — for both safety and to ensure we cause no unnecessary harm to the environment.
-
2. We move & camp appropriately
Routes and wild camping sites are always carefully selected, in line with all local regulations to ensure we keep our wild places wild and safe.
-
3. We dispose of all waste properly
We carry out everything all of the items we carried in, and we have a zero tolerance policy when it comes to any littering — even if it is just a banana peel.
-
4. We leave the wild as we found it
We leave nothing behind and take nothing with us. Except other people’s litter — you’ll be encouraged to take away as much of this as we can carry!
-
5. Fires are forbidden
Open fires damage the landscape, so we never allow them — no matter how photographic they are. We only cook on portable stoves we take with us.
-
6. We treat wildlife with respect
We always move in tune with the wildlife as we’re just visitors in their home. That means not getting too close to wild animals — and absolutely no touching.
-
7. Be considerate of others
We ensure everyone behaves in a way that gives wild campers a good name — which means no noise, camping appropriately and leaving early.

Great Dartmoor walk today for the RICS. Disappointed not to have caught it all after accidentally locking my car keys in the vehicle, along with my two dogs! Hope to be attending another event soon. all the best.

The moonlit walk was a wonderful experience. Keith is a great leader: he finds a lovely balance of personal anecdote, informative inputs on historical and natural features and just letting the group enjoy themselves. His engaging and relaxed manner conceals his levels of experience and expertise and the care he takes in choosing the routes and attending to safety, which leaves the rest of us free to simply enjoy the walk. He even managed to lay on nightjars for us!
